I Bet You Can Relate To This. - Ash Cebulka

I Bet You Can Relate To This.

Hey Mama!

I was thinking about you over the weekend and I bet you can relate to this.

You know when you’re smack dab in the middle of change and it’s super easy to slip into habits that kind of suck? The kind that make you feel more tired, more lost and take away your motivation?

Are you nodding your head saying, “um yeah, I’ve done this 100 times.”

Me too, Mama.

Here’s the good news.

I learned a trick along the way that helped me….

A) Be gentle with myself because life is not a test. I repeat, LIFE IS NOT A TEST! (even if it feels like it sometimes.)

B) Move past those old habits so I could create the new and improved changes my mind, body and most of all my spirit, were craving.

First things first, whenever we’re changin’ it up in our lives, it’s normal to want to go back to whatever feels familiar. It’s called a comfort zone for a reason, right?

When you know you’re going to want to go back to the old ways, it helps you stay awake to when and how you can move through the resistance like a badass.

For instance,

When I knew I wanted more time for myself in the morning so I could be more present, grounded and quite frankly be a nicer human to my fam.  I knew I was going to have to DO something I didn’t really want to do.

I needed to wake up earlier and dammit, I like my sleep. But, here’s the deal – I like having time to meditate, stretch and feel super connected to myself before I start my day MORE than I like that 30 minutes of sleep. So, in order to show up BEING who I want to be it was time to shake things up.

Here’s what helped me make the shift, every time I wanted to make excuses and think of a million reasons why waking up at 5:30am was the dumbest thing, ever.

I told myself two simple, yet profound words. “I’m Changing.”

These words signaled my mind and my body to keep going because I was changing. Which made it easier for me to move through the discomfort, the negative thoughts and feelings, while remembering this was my CHOICE.

The more I reminded myself, “I’m Changing.”  The more amped I got and continue to get for the changes I’m creating in my life.

I see these words work wonders for my clients as well.

Whether it’s creating a new workout routine, getting up earlier, eating differently, not having so many booze, changing careers, upgrading your marriage, transforming the relationship with your kiddos, etc. change is uncomfortable.

Yet, when we remember that we’re the one whose CHOOSING to change; we feel empowered. We realize the discomfort is actually a good sign. It means we’re making progress. Which inspires us to Keep.Going.

So give it a whirl, “I’m Changing.”

I encourage you to say it especially when it feels tough. When you want to give up and throw in the towel. You can do hard things. I know you can. Dig deep, Mama and know, I’m cheering you on every step of the way.
