How To Use Your Intuition To Create A Life You Love →

We all know the feeling of regret that comes immediately after making a decision you knew wasn’t the right one. Maybe you agreed to do someone a favor even though you’re on deadline for work. Maybe you promised to meet a high school acquaintance out of obligation, despite the fact that the person mistreated you back then.

You want to crawl out of your skin. You wish you could rewind time and make a different choice.

Panic sets in and you start to obsess about why you made that decision. Maybe you start trying to convince yourself of all the reasons you should do whatever it is you decided to do, even though it feels completely forced.

We guilt trip ourselves so often sometimes we don’t even notice. But, if we’re honest with ourselves, we know it’s useless.

Guilt feels so wrong because it’s not a state intended or desired by the universe. (When I say “universe,” I mean the creator of everything. You may want to call it God, Source, Buddha, etc. I will use “universe” in the rest of this piece.) It’s a mindset characterized by fear, shame and harsh judgement, and it breeds more of those things.

A mantra I like to use when I find myself getting mired in worry or anxiety is this. “Fear is just false evidence appearing real.”

Guilt results from a focus on what you lack, and this focus encourages those feelings of inadequacy to grow.

Now, the universe isn’t sitting there judging you when you make a decision you’re not proud of, and it certainly isn’t holding it against you. Only you are. You are an extension of the universe, and guilt is a sign that you’re not being true to who you really are.

This is classic ego. It loves to parade our perceived failures or shortcomings in front of us.

Here’s the truth about the ego. We’ll always have one, and we need it. It’s not about beating it to the ground till it goes away. It’s about creating an awareness of when the ego’s running the show, and choosing to consciously redirect our thoughts.

Ego helps us experience contrast. Contrast between feelings is how we determine what we do our don’t actually want. So, the ego actually helps us move closer to the life we want.

When the ego produces guilt, it implies you’re involved in or committed to something you don’t really want to do or think about. The moment you realize that, you have an opportunity to find out why, and start searching for an activity or pursuit that will fulfill you.

Awareness of your guilt is all that’s required to take your power back, rather than to continue being a victim of your circumstances. Over time, you’ll create a new habit of making choices based on your true feelings and values. This inevitably results in decisions of which you can be proud.

Next time you feel that guilt creeping in, take a step back. Ask yourself, what is this feeling trying to teach me? The answer will rise to the surface, and you can then use it to make a choice better suited to bringing about the future you want. Your feelings are your superpower. Use your intuition to read them, and create a life you love to live.

Shine ON!!!

Happy 2014!!! I hope you are enjoying the magic of this new year, so far.

I have some exciting news, I’ve had an idea for this program for a while and finally launched it today! It’s a bit different from my other programs, as it’s designed to help people who already know what they want but have allowed fear and limiting beliefs hold them back. It’s filled with so many golden nuggets and I am just thrilled to see where it takes us. So without further adieu,

 Shine ON!

This program is designed to help you shine and start living your big dreams, right now!

You’re ready to get out of your comfort zone and face your fears, doubts and limiting beliefs in order to live out this bigger picture. Yet, when you get real with yourself you just don’t know what the next steps are. This is where our work together begins.

We are going to get real, honest and vulnerable.

Here I will encourage you to listen to the voice of your soul, also known as your intuition.

We will meet six times over the course of three months. Our first call will be about understanding where you’re currently at in life and where you’re wanting to go. I will then create a map for your program. From there, each call is an hour long and they will be filled with targeted question, helpful tools and direction; as well as recommended reading.

I will encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and this is good news! Get ready to amp up your self care and enhance your overall well being; while discovering new passions in your life and ways to incorporate them into your days.

First, we’re going to get super clear on what you want and WHY. This clarity about your dreams will help us tease through forceful motivation, and in turn encourage you to start taking inspired action. From there, we will address what’s holding you back. You will discover your self imposed limitations and this part is crucial. Understanding these hidden barriers will open you up to a new level of clarity, peace of mind and realization that the empowerment you desire resides within you.

Next, we will create tools and practices to help you move through resistance and do more of what makes you come alive. In this way, we will ditch the ‘should bombs’, guilt and striving while creating space for more joy, freedom, financial abundance and overall well being.

Our work together will help you rediscover your unique life purpose, from there your intentions will be created with your purpose at the center of your life. This is about listening to your intuition and letting that be your guide, so you can take action from this place of authenticity. As you do, you will propel forward with confidence and passion while allowing yourself to Shine!!!

Filled with gratitude and joyous heart,

How to Choose Mala Beads

Everyday many people ask how to choose the right set of mala beads for their life. This is your guide to answer your questions and land the mala that will serve you right and that you will be most connected with.

Lets start with what mala beads are. Mala beads are meditation garlands that have been worn for thousands of years in traditions of Buddhism, Hinduism, yoga and meditation. They have a way to draw you into their uniqueness and energy. Some may feel this as an unexplainable attraction.

Mala beads are traditionally used for japa meditation – reciting a positive affirmation or mantra along each bead to come into a more calming, connected and spiritual state.

Our mala beads take these elements of the traditional culture of mala beads and add an intention to the mala bead. We have infused the healing qualities of crystals and given each mala bead necklace or stack their own intention. There are crystals for love, strength, prosperity, healing, break-ups, focusing, letting go, spirituality, grounding, protection and so on.

Choosing an intention is only half of the process. It is just as important to choose a mala that you are visually and aesthetically drawn to. The things we find beautiful are just as important in our healing as what they are meant for – whether it is art, a beautiful beach or a set of mala beads.

The big thing that can create a blockage when people go to choose their mala bead is figuring out what the intention they want to bring in their life. It is important to listen to your gut in these moments to learn what you really want and not what you think you should want.

To do this take a piece of paper and a pen and answer these questions:
What do I want?
What do I not want?
What is the most important value in my life?

This is a good starting point. There are so many ways to get clear on this: yoga, meditation, goal setting and vision boarding.

Or perhaps your intention is to start making clear decisions – that is a good place to start as well.

There is something powerful about wearing your intention. It makes your goal tangible at every moment of the day. Every time you look at your mala or feel it, you are reminded to stay on your chosen path. Distractions that are coming at you from all directions are averted when you have a physical object to touch and see. Often we hold our mala beads during a conversation or gaze at them in front of our mat during yoga and they remind us why we are here. It is also giving us a power to share with others our intention and create that affirmation in our life.

Here are several factors that you should be mindful of when choosing mala beads:
Things that you are attracted to are integral in your healing whether it is a beautiful landscape, a cute animal or a gorgeous mala. Surrounding yourself with beautiful and uplifting things is powerful.
What is your favourite colour? What colour of clothing do you wear often. You want to choose a mala that you will use and wear often so choose something that you can see being a staple.
Find a mala with a shape that you connect with. Ever heard of sacred geometry? Choose something that you are drawn to.
What do you want to create in your life? What are you working on? What do you want? What are you struggling with. Ask yourself these questions and see if they guide to what you want to create as your intention.
Every crystal we use in our mala beads as its own individual energy. Make sure that this energy aligns with your intention! A lot of malas will assist everyone on some level – see if you can find something that you connect with individually.
What was the first mala you were originally drawn to? – This is most likely the perfect mala for you! Remember listen to your gut. Just like in an interview you know if someone is right for the job within 15 seconds, look for this feeling when choosing a mala bead.

Choosing a mala is a combination of all of these factors – most importantly follow your intuition and follow your heart. Once you have your mala bead wear it and be proud of the intention you are now wearing in your life and can be reminded of in every moment to stay aligned with your true nature.

Nothin’ But Love →

So I have wanted to write about this for a while, for so many reasons.

1. Because I think it’s all to easy to let our busy lives carry us away and quickly neglect the attention our relationships need.

2. Who doesn’t love saying and hearing why they are adored, especially by their partners?

3. Taking time to connect is vital to our well being.

4. I’m a big, rather HUGE fan of gratitude.
I  could go on but instead, I encourage you to read this most recent piece I wrote for Mind Body Green.
