I hope you’re ready for a hilarious, fulfilled night with friends and family.
My gold dreams are coming true tonight with the costume I’m wearing. I’m curious, are you a get-decked-out-super-into-it Halloweener or ummm, no so much?
I’ve swung both ways and this year, I’m super into it.
Let’s dive into a topic I’ve been wanting to talk to you about.
During a call with a client today, I found myself having a conversation I’ve had at least 300 times before and I couldn’t help but think of you. Here’s why, because my guess is you can likely relate on some level or another to what my client was going through.
Heck, I know I can. I’ve been there more times than I can count.
Without sharing the details of her life, I’ll tell you the juicy part of where you and her are likely the same.
She wants to take a big risk in her life, something she’s never done before and she’s scared shitless. So scared that she wonders if it’s worth it to take the risk. Sound familiar? I thought so.
She wants to start a biz that’s both deeply personal and super meaningful to her. Now she’s worried; “What if nobody cares or wants to hear from me?”
Those fears could easily stop her from starting. Those nagging questions of, “What if this is crazy? What if it flops? What if nobody cares about what I have to say or thinks this is worthwhile? What if, if, if, if…..my dreams don’t really matter?”
I have about 5,000 things I want to say about her fears and trepidations, yet it comes down to this, we all have those fears.
In this situation, fear is good news.
When you’re entertaining getting outside of your comfort zone, fear is a natural human response. SAY WHAAAAT? Yep, fear’s just doin’ it’s job. Trying to keep you safe & small in your comfort zone where life feels nice and predictable.
But, and this is a big Ol’ BUT….staying small doesn’t feel good. As human beings we’re here to expand and grow on the reg. Which is why, when these moments of inspiration hit, it’s crucial to act. Our souls thank us for it. For many reason, I’ll name three to keep this brief.
1. We remind ourselves what we’re capable of and in turn our confidence rises to the surface.
2. Experience is our greatest teacher, we learn way faster from acting than from intellectualizing. When we take action our passions RISE to the surface and inspire us to keep going.
3. What initially scared us, had a whole lot of excitement underneath it, taking action and doing what lights us up has a domino effect. It inspires and excites others.
BONUS, self love and trust heightens when we take risks and listen to our soul, regardless of the outcomes.
So, if you’re contemplating taking a leap and fear is knocking down your courage, I want to leave you with this….
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson You can do this, and I’m cheering you on every step of way.
Please listen to the fear, take a big deep breath and leap. I’m over here cheering you on every step of the way.
